The red carpet was rolled out this past week at 3333 Sacramento to celebrate the opening of a special exhibit showcasing three private collections by Twiga Mbunda – Tanzanian art dealer and jewelry designer. The elegant reception, which took place from 6pm-9pm on Friday, February 19th, invited guests to explore Twiga’s stunning collections of striking tribal art and jewelry. The pieces will continue to be available for viewing through February 26th and are located two doors down from the Twiga Gallery.
Taking over an old toy store, the venue provided a beautiful open space with wood detailing and an arc-like atmosphere. Being beside Twiga Gallery itself, guests were also able to tour the regular gallery offerings while they attended the reception. Wine was plentiful and small bites were collected from neighborhood restaurants like Osteria for guests to enjoy. The space was comfortably busy from opening to close and those in attendance were able to mingle with Twiga as well as other art enthusiasts while viewing the bold and unique collections.
The opening reception was a huge success and we congratulate Twiga on a beautiful exhibit. As a bonus, a portion of the proceeds from exhibit sales will benefit the Mbinga Children’s Organization, an orphanage in Tanzania Twiga helped build.
