GLIDE’s 7th installment of the Legacy Gala welcomed over 1,000 guests and honored three luminaries with the 2016 Legacy Awards for their social impact on the San Francisco community and their commitment to the GLIDE organization.  This year’s event, which over time has become the most established and well-attended young professional gala in SF, took place downtown once again at the Regency Ballroom on August 13, 2016.  The swanky soirée raised over $100K for GLIDE programs, including the GLIDE Women’s Center as event proceeds helped launched its eight-week photography project on human trafficking PHOTOVOICE.

Among this year’s honorees were Felicia Horowitz, philanthropist and human rights advocate, who received the Janice Mirikitani Award; Van Jones, President & Co-Founder of The Dream Corps and CNN Political Contributor, was presented the Reverend Cecil Williams Award (received by SF Board of Education President and Dream Corps colleague Matt Haney on Jones’ behalf); as well as Sarah Shourd, author, educator, prisoner rights advocate who was presented with the Community Hero Award.

Delectable morsels were offered via passed hor d’oeuvres, assorted platters, and tasting stations from San Francisco favorites: Aventine, Black Bark BBQ, The Brixton, Canyon Market, Casa Sanchez, Cityscape / Hilton SF, Cumaica Coffee, Fang Restaurant, GLIDE Meals Program’s Famous Fried Chicken, Judy’s Breadsticks, KC Catering, SemiFreddi’s Bakery, Twenty Five Lusk, and Woodhouse Fish Company.  Throughout the evening, guests also enjoyed musical performances from the internationally renowned GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band, under the musical direction of Clifford Coulter and Vernon Bush, and dance-worthy beats from DJ KingMost.

Special thanks to AEG Live, Classic Party Rentals, GBS Linens, the GLIDE Legacy Committee, Impact Lighting, The Regency Ballroom venue staff, in addition to all the food and beverage sponsors that participated including the Campari America brands.
