On Saturday, August 22, The Grand Ballroom of the Regency Center was filled to the brim with over 1,000 young professionals in support of GLIDE’s 6th Annual Legacy Gala. Each year this gala, aimed toward young professionals, celebrates GLIDE’s incredible legacy of supporting the San Francisco community. All proceeds benefited GLIDE’s programs. The evening also included a live auction on eBay and fundraising for “Beats by GLIDE”, a music program geared toward providing children with the opportunity to receive musical instruction for one hour, five hours, or an entire semester.
Guests savored a variety of tasty bites and drinks from local restaurants, such as GLIDE’s classic fried chicken; chips, salsa, and chicken mole from Casa Sanchez; kale salad and mac and cheese from Global Gourmet Catering; desserts and cupcakes from Mission Mini’s, Noe Valley Bakery, and many more. Specialty cocktails, were a hit all evening, named after awardees: “Kristi on Ice” and “Chip’s Joie de Vivre”.
Guests enjoyed musical performances from the internationally renowned GLIDE Ensemble and Change Band as well as hot beats by DJ KingMost. The Legacy Committee took a moment to recognize three honorees for their social impact on the San Francisco community and their commitment to GLIDE: Kristi Yamaguchi, Chinaka Hodge, and Chip Conley. The surprise appearance of the evening was Jidenna, who provided a special performance of his hit single: Classic Man.
After such a successful and fun event, we look forward to seeing what next year’s GLIDE Legacy Gala will look like. Special thanks to Dori Caminong, SnapFiesta, Denise Lamott, Drew Altizer, all of our food and beverage donors, all of our fantastic GLIDE volunteers, DJ KingMost, Franco Finn, Play-Well Teknologies, and Jenny B.
